Our Story
In 1985, our family was sponsored by a group of Christian missionaries in alliance with the U.N. My parents chose California and Australia as their first picks, but ended up in the blessed country of Canada. Nevertheless, our family was fortunate enough to be amongst one of the chosen. As my parents worked physically demanding jobs; It was rooted that we went school and receive a good education so we too can have “good jobs” and become “doctors”.
Because of our given situation, my parents were very eager work and become a contribution to the success of the society. With a language barrier and lack of education, many immigrant-parents ended up working manual labor jobs in the horticulture industry. The Mushroom Farm to be exact. In 2000, my parents were not impressed that I took on a job at the “mushroom farm” because they desired more for me. I was determined to prove them wrong. Up until 2003, My mushroom farm adventure took me from being a “runner” carrying boxes, all the way to the top position as a grower manager. It eventually led me to finding my life partner.
It was Easter weekend in 2016, our day started with a devastating phone call from the doctor’s office. The dialogue was, “DeoLinda, you have cancer.” Those four words darkened our days, later resonated to our immediate family as well as our work family. Later that week, my brother in-law Dom took initiative to introduce us to a fuzzy bearded gentleman by the name of Jack Kungel. We spoke to this gentleman, and he took the time to open our eyes educate us about the numerous ways this plant could promote healing via “The Cannabinoid System”. Jack became my sensei and took me under his wing. To make a long story short soulmate is still cancer free to this day without chemo, radiation, and medication; Therefore, my awakening of cannabis had already begun without me realizing it.
In 2018, I took a cannabis journey and jumped onboard with a company that shared the same visions of growing truly organic cannabis as we did. We started in a tradition style greenhouse, then moved onto a venlo greenhouse and eventually ended up with a state-of-the-art HVAC greenhouse. Technology can be grand! We were fortunate to be able to use a proprietary organic bioreactor and digester to generate the nutrients for fertigation. I spearheaded the workflow from a propagation all the through to the drying and curing process. Naturally I excelled from grower to operations manager and then master grower.
